Locating and using published resources is an important component of professional activity in the information/conceptual age.

A major issue in K-12 schooling is asking questions and locating resources that address those questions. While there is much to be said for the use information published on the Internet, there is also a wealth of information in published journals. Fortunately, as a VSU student, you have access to full-text material for a wide variety of high quality journals.

You are to develop a question that you believe is important for preservice teachers at the grade level for which you will teach. The question could be of a generic nature such as "What is the primary role of elementary teachers in developed nations during the first half of the the 21st century?" or very specific such as "How can I best teach musical notation to 5th grade students?" You will then complete a Galileo search and locate an article that is at least 5 pages in length that addresses this question.

You are to write a 2- to 3-page critique of the article you selected. Be sure to include the necessary bibliographical information (i.e., author, date of publication, name of article, journal name, volume and issue number, and page numbers.) Also, include your question that you used to start your search.

Use Times Roman 12pt font, double space, and 1" margins. Be sure to put your name on your paper.

Send the completed critique as an email attachment to whuitt@valdosta.edu by the due date.
